Despite the fact that obesity was considered a disease by the WHO in 1936, and that in March 2021 the European Commission classified it as a relapsing chronic disease, there is still not enough awareness in the health field or in society. This means that health professionals, institutions or patients do not become as actively involved in the research and treatment of obesity as in other chronic pathologies.
